چکیده

Introduction: Peripheral intravenous (IV) cannulation are routine procedures in emergency department (ED) admissions. Vapocoolant sprays have a potential advantage over other topical agents. We aimed to see how effective vapocoolant spray was reducing pain during versus control group this study. Materials and Methods: This is prospective, randomized study consisting of patients who were admitted the ED. The included aged 18 applied ED had IV cannulation. divided into 2 groups as groups. Age, gender, dominant hand status all patient recorded. Side effects observed after application. Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), which most widely used scale measure pain, used. Results: 206 individuals randomized. mean age 46.40±16.44 years, while it 46.75±17.49 years for group. found significantly lower VAS values than (1.47±1.32 vs. 3.97±1.97 p<0.001). It that spray-applied percentage terms moderate (VAS>3 cm) compared (7.8% vs 58.3%, Besides, severe (VAS>5.4 be (1% 20.4%, Conclusion: can effectively mitigate associated with pre-IV procedure an alternative method departments.

The effect of vapocoolant spray on pain due to intravenous cannulation in children: a randomized controlled trial.

BACKGROUND Established noninvasive pharmacologic means of alleviating pain and anxiety in children undergoing intravenous cannulation are time-consuming, and thus impractical for routine use in the emergency department. Vapocoolant sprays provide transient skin anesthesia within seconds of application. We compared the effect of a new vapocoolant spray to placebo on pain due to intravenous cannu...

Vapocoolant Spray Effectiveness on Arterial Puncture Pain: A Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial.

Arterial blood gas (ABG) sampling is a painful procedure with no perfect technique for quelling the discomfort. An ideal local anesthesia should be rapid, easy to learn, inexpensive, and noninvasive. This study was aimed to compare pain levels from ABG sampling performed with vapocoolant spray in comparison to placebo. We hypothesized that pretreatment with the vapocoolant would reduce the pain...

PAIN Effect of communication on pain during intravenous cannulation: a randomized controlled trial

Methods. Randomly assigned patients awaiting elective surgery received a communication immediately before i.v. cannulation consisting of either ‘I am going to apply the tourniquet and insert the needle in a few moments. It’s a sharp scratch and it may sting a little’ (Group S) or ‘I am going to apply the tourniquet on the arm. As I do this many people find the arm becomes heavy, numb and tingly...
